The handle is about 30 inches. For a standard 8-foot ceiling most people reach the fan from the floor or a low step. Very high or vaulted ceilings may still need a ladder.
The flexible dome wraps most flat and gently curved blades. Very thick, boxed or unusually shaped blades may not tuck inside as snugly, so it works best on standard fan blades.
